COBOL delete

Provides examples of the COBOL delete verb / statement.

>COBOL DELETE Statement
The COBOL DELETE statement removes a record from an indexed or relative file. For indexed files, you may reuse the key for record addition. For relative files, the space is then available for a new record with the same RELATIVE KEY value.

>COBOL DELETE Statement
The COBOL DELETE statement logically removes a record from a relative or indexed file.

>COBOL DELETE Statement
The COBOL DELETE statement logically removes a record from a mass storage file.

>COBOL DELETE Verb
COBOL DELETE will delete the current record in a non-sequential file OPENed as 'I-O'. There must be a current record, so a successful READ or READ NEXT must precede the COBOL DELETE.
