>COBOL CLOSE Statement
The COBOL CLOSE statement terminates the processing of sequential, random, relative, and indexed files. The COBOL CLOSE statement has two formats, depending upon whether you want to close a sequential file or one of the other three types of files.

>COBOL CLOSE Statement
The COBOL CLOSE statement ends processing of reels (or units) and files. It can also perform rewind, lock, and removal operations.
